About Edge of the World Studios
Edge of the World Studios is a global indie game studio, based in Saudi, creating visually distinct, narrative-rich games. We work at the intersection of culture and play, using stories as creative seeds for globally resonant experiences. We’re building a studio that prioritizes creative integrity, thoughtful storytelling, and a sustainable production culture. We believe in collaboration, transparency, and bringing together talent from around the world to make beautiful, commercially viable games that mean something.
Our current project is a 2.5D puzzle platforming adventure game inspired by stop motion and Claymation-style artwork, folklore, and mythology.
If you’re passionate about expressive games, creative problem-solving, and helping bring a distinctive art-driven project to life, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
We’re looking for a Unity Developer (Gameplay & Systems Focus) to join our core team and help implement the systems, interactions, and mechanics that bring the game to life. You’ll work at bridging game design into functional gameplay and ensuring every moment feels responsive, immersive, and technically solid. This is a hands-on role in a tightly-knit team, ideal for someone who enjoys building beautiful, efficient systems that serve both story and play. You’ll be working closely with the design, production, and art teams to prototype, implement, and refine the gameplay across all levels - from player movement and puzzle interactions to narrative sequences and environmental logic.
Because we’re a compact team, this role combines hands-on coding, engine setup, and technical oversight - ideal for someone who wants ownership and creative input in a small, collaborative studio environment.
What You’ll Do
- Implement and own core gameplay systems in Unity, including movement, physics, puzzles, triggers, and environmental interactions.
- Build and maintain the Unity project structure, including version control setup, prefabs, layers, and tagging conventions.
- Collaborate with the design team to prototype and refine player mechanics, ensuring smooth responsiveness and clarity of control.
- Integrate 3D art and animation assets into Unity (URP), ensuring proper setup of materials, shaders, and lighting to match the art direction.
- Optimize performance across target platforms (PC and console) - focusing on URP lighting, occlusion, and draw-call efficiency.
- Develop tools, scripts, or prefabs to streamline level implementation and improve team workflow.
- Work with the Game Designer to bring level logic and progression systems to life - managing triggers, events, and camera transitions.
- Collaborate with the narrative and art teams to plug in cinematic moments, interactive sequences, and cutscenes.
- Profile, debug, and optimize performance across target platforms.
- Conduct QA and playtesting passes, identifying and fixing gameplay or technical issues.
- Document systems and workflows clearly for use by other team members.
You’d Be a Great Fit If You:
- Have 3+ years of Unity experience (or equivalent), ideally on narrative or puzzle-based games.
- Are fluent in C# scripting and have a solid understanding of gameplay architecture, components, and event-driven logic.
- Understand how to translate design intentions into functional, performant gameplay.
- Are comfortable working in Unity URP, setting up shaders, lighting, and scene hierarchies.
- Care about the player experience- how controls, timing, and feedback contribute to storytelling.
- Can collaborate closely with artists and designers to solve creative-technical challenges together.
- Value clear communication, creative ownership, and working within a small, multidisciplinary team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Unity Timeline or other cinematic tools.
- Familiarity with state machines, scriptable objects, and event systems.
- Knowledge of AI behaviors, camera systems, or puzzle logic scripting.
- Experience optimizing for mid-range PCs and consoles.
- Understanding of version control systems (Unity Cloud, Git, or Perforce).
Details
- Full-time contracted position (~12 months, renewable)
- Fully remote, collaborating primarily on GMT+3 (Riyadh)
- Flexible schedule and collaborative culture
- Start date: March 2026
Please include any relevant Unity work or demos.
We’re always happy to have conversations, meet new people, and connect with talented individuals in the gaming space.
Thanks!
