Who are we?
Hypersonic Labs is building HELIX, the ultimate open-world multiplayer sandbox. We are a remote-first, international team and have raised $11M from top gaming VCs.

What's the Job?
We are looking for a Technical Director / Lead Programmer (preferably with experience creating on UGC platforms) to architect, hire, and manage a team of Lua programmers to deliver a live-service open-world multiplayer game built on our own next-generation UGC platform. Core gameplay involves completing jobs, competitive game modes, and collecting/trading items such as properties and vehicles.
As such, we would like to see candidates with experience in scaling engineering teams and delivering a full game from concept to release.

What will you be doing?
  • Grow, manage, and mentor a stellar development team from scratch.
  • Oversee all technical aspects of the project, including client side, server side, tools teams.
  • Create and maintain a solid technical architecture for the entire game and codebase.
  • Collaborate and coordinate across different disciplines such as Art and Game Design teams.
  • Plan and deliver a functional prototype within 2 months using existing frameworks.

What are we looking for?
  • 6+ years experience in senior programmer roles, preferably in management/leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of the Lua programming language and network programming.
  • (Bonus) Knowledge of C++ and Unreal Engine Blueprints.
  • Extremely organized and effective in communication.
  • Extensive experience in hiring, scaling, mentoring teams.
  • Experience with working on LiveOps games.
  • Able to work during US or UK time zones.
  • (Bonus) Experience working with FiveM RP servers.
  • (Bonus) Portfolio of solo game projects.
