Unknown Worlds is seeking an experienced engineer to help drive the core technology effort on our next game in the Subnautica universe. You will be a key part of a team developing a wide range of systems within Unreal Engine 5, such as streaming, networking, graphics and console support. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with proven Unreal Engine experience to be an integral part of a talented, ambitious and self-motivated engineering team.
You excel at architecting, building and delivering core technology systems and features that help us achieve our creative goals. Using your extensive experience developing large-scale features within Unreal Engine you will help the wider engineering team through mentoring, reviews and championing best practices.
As part of a fully distributed team you are effective at both written and verbal communication, as well as clearly setting and closing the loop on priorities and expectations both inside and outside of your team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Architect and develop key features and systems that support our creative and technical goals, with a key focus on working closely with core technologies within Unreal Engine 5 that support open-world development.
Provide clear and concise mentoring and feedback to other engineers on technical designs and implementation.
Collaborate closely with project Engineering leadership and production to identify risks for core engine-level features and develop plans to address them.
Drive efforts to meet performance targets across all delivery platforms through proactive profiling and optimization as well as helping the wider team work towards Unreal Engine best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong and effective communication and mentoring skills, with professional experience as a senior or principal engineer on at least one shipped title.
Deep knowledge of Unreal Engine systems, features and workflows proven through multiple shipped titles.
Proven experience developing and executing technical architecture for core engine systems and features in shipped Unreal Engine game(s).
Expert level knowledge of game development in C++.
Professional experience developing and shipping multiplayer games within Unreal Engine.
PREFERENCES
Experience with current generation console development, profiling and optimization.
