Role overview
This is a unique role that blends fast-paced gameplay prototyping, hands-on technical leadership, and a front-row seat to learning innovation.
We’re looking for a Senior Unity Gameplay Engineer to prototype a horror-themed downhill mountain biking game. You’ll own the critical path for gameplay—building and iterating on the core experience while keeping the codebase clean and shippable. You’ll elevate junior engineers through high-signal code reviews and clear feedback, and collaborate with a dynamic team and partner studios. Beyond the game, you’ll help shape a new model of education that bridges learning with working, turning real production tasks into individualized growth paths.
What you'll do
- Prototype, implement, and iterate on core gameplay systems (bike control/feel, downhill traversal, hazards, interactions, horror pacing systems, etc.)
- Define lightweight architecture patterns that keep prototypes flexible but sane
- Lead a team of junior engineers: break down tasks, unblock devs, and provide technical direction
- Run code reviews and uphold standards on readability and performance
- Help shape our AI-powered individualized learning system by contributing ideas and sharpening the feedback loop
Required qualifications
- Shipped at least 2 titles (any genre/platform)
- 5+ years (or equivalent) professional Unity/C# experience
- Deep, practical experience in Unity gameplay engineering (systems built end-to-end, iteration on feel, debugging, basic profiling)
- Comfortable providing technical direction and performing code reviews for junior engineers (clear feedback, task breakdown, unblocking)
- Proven track record of pragmatic decision making in fast-moving prototype environments. Indie background is a plus.
- Strong async communication, ownership, and problem-solving. Passion for learning and mentorship is a plus.
What we offer
- A startup-style environment with a supportive, high-trust culture
- Creative freedom and real influence over the game’s direction and execution
- Exposure to a variety of projects as we expand our partnerships
- Flexible hours—you decide when you work, with light coordination for reviews/syncs
- A strong learning culture, with access to mentor office hours and guest lectures
- Make tangible impact on the next generation of game developers
