Founded by directors Chris Wood and Terence Burns - former programmers with Epic Games - Tanglewood Games is an established games development studio based in the north of England.
As a friendly team of Unreal Engine experts with long careers based at the forefront of this technology, we have a proven track record working with well-known AAA publishers on some of the biggest Unreal Engine titles to date, such as Hogwarts Legacy, Fortnite, Sea of Thieves and Paragon.
What we offer
At Tanglewood we have implemented a transparent salary policy. All individuals at each level will receive the same fixed salary. We have recently increased all salaries by at least inflation. The compensation package for this role includes:
- £45,000 p/a + Annual bonus
Further to this, we also offer:

- 20 days holiday + 3 extra days for Christmas holiday + bank holidays
- An additional 1 day for every year with Tanglewood (up to 7 MAX)

The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with Unreal Engine on a game across multiple platforms
- Strong C++ programming skills
- Effective debugging skills
- Good understanding of Unreal Engine. Including core engine, framework, tools, etc
- Performance profiling and optimisation skills
- Experience developing for consoles
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients across all time zones
Your day-to-day may include :
- Nativising blueprints
- Identifying bottlenecks through the use of profiling tools
- Improving existing game systems
- Writing important features to scale games across devices
- Building custom tools to help identify hotspots for CPU, GPU and Memory
- Implementing platform specific functionality. Such as rich presence, online stores, trophies, etc
- Guiding junior team members through code reviews and task planning
