Skymap Games is seeking a talented and experienced Engineering Manager to join our studio, helping us to deliver great projects in a wide range of genres and platforms. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our engineering teams, assisting the CTO in managing the engineering department. Your responsibilities will include handling personnel-related concerns, project assignments, career development, and coordinating engineering efforts across multiple projects. This position is ideal for someone with a background in software development or project management who excels in leadership and has a passion for fostering talent and driving team success.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the CTO in overseeing the engineering department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
  • Manage and mentor engineering teams, providing guidance and support for career development
  • Ensure engineering teams have the resources necessary to deliver on time and at a high quality
  • Handle personnel-related concerns, including performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and team morale
  • Coordinate project assignments and ensure resources are allocated effectively
  • Conduct project evaluations to ensure projects are on track and meet quality standards
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between engineering teams and other departments
  • Develop and implement best practices and processes to improve engineering efficiency and productivity
  • Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to ensure our engineering practices remain cutting-edge

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in game development or software engineering, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Experience with personnel management, including performance evaluations and career development
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions under pressure

Pluses
  • Expericence with managing a fully-remote team
  • Familiarity with game development processes and tools
  • Knowledge of various game engines, including Unreal Engine and Unity
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and industry standard tools
  • Passion for video games and a deep understanding of gaming trends
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement best practices
