Ironwood Studios is a new Seattle based AA game studio composed of experienced developers. We’re looking for a Level Designer to join our small team to craft levels and encounters in our first unannounced title, a genre-bending, systems-driven 3D game set in a surreal and mysterious world.
As the primary level designer on the project, your main responsibilities will be the layout of large open areas for the game and implementing the encounters and hazards that fill them.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conception and implementation of the designs of linear and replayable levels with procedural elements, from initial blockout through to ship
- Design and implement enemies and hazards that interface with the core systems and deploy them in the levels that you build
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure that your designs are both technically sound and dynamic and polished
- Build content that furthers the settings and themes of the game’s narrative and world
- Participate in team brainstorming bringing your ideas and experiences to the table for various aspects of the game
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- At least 1 shipped title OR comparable experience (education, mods, etc)
- Experience working with Unreal and familiarity with its technical constraints
- Has an excellent portfolio clearly demonstrating your skill set
- Experience working with version control (we use Perforce)
- Ability to clearly and concisely document/organize your work and progress
BONUS POINTS:
- Comfortable in small development team settings (less than 25)
- Experience with procedural level and encounter design
- Basic to Intermediate knowledge of 3D modeling packages
WHAT WE ARE OFFERING:
- 40 hour/week paid contract role (16 months)
- PST Time zone hours (+/- 3 hours)
- Remote at start, on-site when it’s safe is preferred (relocation not included)
