About the Role
As a Combat Game Designer you will be responsible for the core combat and moment-to-moment gameplay of our project. You will design features for our current core mechanics, enhancing, and balancing. You will be working directly with the team to execute the game's combat design & adjust it according to our project GDDs.
You will focus on bringing creative solutions, and enhance the game feel according to the vision in order to forge engaging and robust game features.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance and design melee combat mechanics of isometric that align with the vision for our games, including: character movement, controls, and camera.
- Collaborate with animation, programming, and level design to ensure combat mechanics are matching the vision & ensure gameplay feedback for a polished player experience.
- Analyze, balance and tune combat data, player feedback, and internal playtests to refine and iterate on combat features.
- Lead playtests and playtest reviews together with the team.
- Help designing enemies and collaborate with the level design to enhance the gameplay experience.
Requirements:
- 3 years or more of experience as a combat designer
- Melee combat design experience
- Player feedback loops, hit detection, and animation timing to create responsive and satisfying combat interactions.
- Experience with live service games, ability to analyze gameplay data and player feedback to inform design decisions and balance combat features.
- Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills
- A high degree of self-motivation and initiative-taking, often working independently.
- Skills in dealing with scriptable objects and prototyping tools, such as Unity.
Bonus:
- Technical or animation familiarity.
- Work with Unity 2022 or higher and able to deal with scripting system
