Job Description:
We are searching for a Mid-Level Game Developer with Unity and mobile game development experience to join our team. This role will see you contributing significantly to our flagship title, Fitment. This person is passionate about creating polished user experiences with strong attention to detail while also staying on schedule. The ideal fit will be friendly, focused, organized, and enjoy working in a largely independent capacity to create functional, robust systems.
This position is a contract role with the possibility to convert to full-time as our Lead Developer based on performance and leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with remote team to design, prototype, and implement engaging game features for Fitment using Unity
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient C# code
- Debug and refactor existing code for optimal performance on various mobile platforms
- Participate in game design discussions and code reviews, contributing positively to the overall quality of the game
- Develop systems that work with iOS and Android platform like save systems and push notifications
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical and game design documentation
- Contribute to live ops systems implementation, preferably with PlayFab
Recommended Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' professional game development experience, with a particular focus on mobile games on both Android and iOS
- Familiarity with mobile platform-specific APIs and services (iOS, Android) such as the FB SDK
- Proficient in Unity game development, with expertise in Unity's UI system and new input system
- Proficient in C# programming
- Solid understanding of game design principles and a demonstrated ability to creatively contribute to the game development process
- Familiarity with the challenges of mobile game development, including performance optimization and memory management
- Good understanding of version control systems (Unity Version Control)
- Proactive communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with PlayFab for multiplayer systems
- Knowledge of native mobile app development
- Experience using mobile phone motion controls (IMU) as input
- Understanding of game analytics and user experience principles
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading a dev team
This is a remote part-time contractor-status position of 26 to 30 hours a week at $30 an hour. Candidate must be able to work during Central Time (Chicago) hours. Contract will be for 16 weeks with a flexible start date.
