Join CI Games and be part of shaping the future of gaming. As we embark on an ambitious strategic roadmap with major releases planned for 2025-2028, we're seeking a talented and dedicated Senior Systems Designer to help us create ground-breaking experiences that captivate players worldwide.
A career at CI Games is about being part of a team working on some of the most creatively rewarding and ambitious projects to be found in any entertainment medium. You would be welcomed to a dedicated and inclusive environment where you can learn and collaborate with some of the most talented people in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Feature Ownership & Design:
- Design and own major game systems such as combat mechanics, progression, stat scaling, resource economy, enemy behaviour frameworks, loot, and world-state systems.
- Translate high-level design goals into fully realized, systemic gameplay features that support replayability and mastery.
- Build and maintain clear, detailed documentation for all systems, rulesets, and feature behaviours.
- Work closely with the Game Director and Lead Designers to ensure all systems reflect the tone, pacing, and challenge curve of an Action RPG experience.
- Proactively identify opportunities to deepen systemic interconnectivity between combat, exploration, and narrative.
Hands-on Implementation & Tuning:
- Implement gameplay systems directly in the engine using visual scripting tools, blueprints, etc.
- Create and tune enemy stats, level-scaling rules, item effects, damage formulas, stamina/cooldown mechanics, and progression curves to ensure challenging but fair gameplay.
- Rapidly prototype new mechanics or iterations using placeholder assets to validate design intent.
- Own the full pipeline for your systems, from initial design, through implementation, iteration, and polish.
- Use telemetry, playtesting, and internal feedback to adjust parameters, eliminate exploits, and fine-tune pacing.
Collaboration & Quality:
- Act as a cross-functional bridge between design, code, animation, audio, and production to ensure systems are both technically viable and creatively resonant.
- Partner with combat and level designers to integrate systems organically into encounters and environments.
- Communicate clearly with production to scope features accurately and ensure delivery on schedule.
- Mentor junior designers by providing feedback, sharing tools and workflows, and fostering design thinking.
- Champion a culture of iteration, quality, and ownership, raising the bar on systemic depth and player-driven storytelling.
