UNIT9 is looking for two Unreal Developers to help us craft projects that bridge innovation, mobile, VR/AR and digital platforms.
At UNIT9, we are looking for a talented and creative Unreal Developer to work at the highest level of immersive, virtual and augmented reality. As a member of our team you will be responsible for implementing game functionality, translating design ideas, concepts, and requirements into a functional and engaging game. Our ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in Unreal Development technologies, strong programming and coding skills, a keen eye for detail, and the analytical skills to identify potential issues with a design plan. Working across many different departments, this role requires a candidate with excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude and a good team ethic to unify a common vision.
You are an intuitive problem solver, constantly searching for new and innovative ways to shape a narrative through interactive technologies. This role will be unique for your breadth of knowledge across creative tools, development environments and will engage your insatiable curiosity to explore and learn new skills. A background/knowledge in video data stream through game engine would be welcomed.
Your day to day role is hands-on, with a focus on conceptualising, ideating, prototyping, designing and building tech-based innovative and immersive solutions in close collaboration with creatives, technologists and other disciplines.
As a Creative Technologist on the team your initial focus will be on a specific technical ecosystem that merges live camera video stream on construction site and BIM model, with the final goal to create an immersive solution that helps construction managers to make decisions remotely.
After a few months on your first project, you will gradually move into other deliverables focusing on diverse immersive solutions for global brands in leading industries. You will be an experimenter and an advocate for creating engaging user experiences. You will look beyond the design and UX model that have been established and focus on product potential – how to make what we’ve crafted even more engaging for the user.
Objectives of this Role
-Take ownership of entire features and components of the game lifecycle and lead the product design and code elements
-Collaborate with other members of the team to deliver large and complex features on time and to a high standard
-Collaborate with stakeholders
-Be part of the development process and contribute improvements and suggestions, driving the quality of the code throughout the entire production cycle
-Mentor other developers in the team and help maintain code, product, and process quality
-Conduct code reviews and be part of the hiring process for future colleagues
-Bring meaningful contributions to our product and the entire team
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
-Plan, design and implement high-quality Unreal game engine features working as part of the wider studio team
-Transform design specification into functional assets
-Establish an effective solution strategy and development pipeline
-Quickly create and iterate on prototypes showcasing new designs and interaction patterns
-Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
-Ensure the best performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications and games
-Identify process and application bottlenecks and implement solutions in a timely manner
Skills and Qualifications
-2-5 years experience with Unreal
-Strong 3D maths skills
-Strong programming and scripting language skills
-Experience working with game assets (meshes, animations, materials etc)
-Experience profiling and optimising game and render performance (GPU and CPU)
-Experience working on a physics-based game project, source control systems such as Git in a multi developer team environment.
-Understanding UX design process and experience working with UX design team and/or development team
-Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (required)
-Masters degree in Computer Science or another relevant field (preferred)
