Overview
We are looking for a Senior Game Designer who is responsible for designing and implementing systems & content in the Unreal Engine. As a Senior Designer, you will work with the team and the creative directors to come up with engaging, in depth designs for future products. You will organize the design, as well as dive into the day to day discussions with the team to keep the design on track. You will also help mentor other designers as needed, as well as mentor the rest of the team on the philosophies of design.
As a team member for our studio, you would have the opportunity to work on a diverse set of projects. This is a remote position, but you will work closely with the team and your experience will be valued. You will work in an environment where transparency and growth are encouraged.
As a Senior Designer at Steel Wool, you would…
- Work with design leadership to help form the vision for the game, and ensure that the vision is communicated to the rest of the team.
- Design and document complex systems and game flows, and tune them to match the vision of the game.
- Have a holistic grasp on the design, so you know the consequences of any change and can communicate that to the team and leadership.
- Be a self starter, taking new ideas and have ownership over them.
- Work with the engineers to prototype and create systems in Unreal 4 Blueprints.
- Debug, tune, balance, and polish features for final delivery.
- Work with Tech, Art, and Production to understand our systems and make sure their feedback and input is heard.
- Help maintain the day-to-day design pipeline.
Looking for someone who has…
- Strong communication skills and clear design documentation skills.
- One or more shipped titles using Unreal Engine 4.
- Experience designing VR games..
- Contributed to shipping at least two commercial games in a Game Design role on PC or Console.
- Experience developing game content in-engine.
- Experience scripting in a previous visual or written language.
- Strong ability to deconstruct high-level gameplay systems into specific technical details, features and tasks.
- Know the gaming market and be able to do research if needed.

We are offering a starting salary of $100,000 - $130,000 USD depending on experience and subject to market rate.
