Overview
At Steel Wool, we’re searching for an Animator to join the team who can help create fun and memorable experiences for our players. Animators will work closely with other departments and would be responsible for bringing our games to life.
As a team member for our studio, you would have the opportunity to work on a diverse set of projects. This is a remote position, but you will work closely with the team and your experience will be valued. You will work in an environment where transparency and growth are encouraged.
As an Animator at Steel Wool, you would…
- Create and implement character animation using motion capture, keyframe, and in-engine tools
- Iterate and refine animation based on lead and director feedback
- Collaborate with gameplay designers, VFX artists, tech animators, audio, modeling, engineering, and production to fully realize our characters in-game
- Work closely with our other animators and give feedback to junior animators
Looking for someone who has…
- Strong traditional animation skills and the ability to apply them to gameplay and cinematic systems
- Proficiency in Maya (or similar transferable skill software)
- Proficient in runtime engine animation workflows
- 2+ years of experience in related industry animation
- Experience in the full development cycle of an indie, AA, or AAA game title
Pluses
- An avid gamer with a passion for creating great games
- Proficient in C++
- Unity Engine Experience
- Experience working alongside outsourced teams
- Experience working with Virtual Reality platforms such as Oculus, HTC, and PSVR
- Have worked in both AAA and Indie environments

We are offering a starting salary of $65,000 - $77,500 USD depending on experience and subject to market rate.
