The game concept has already gotten great feedback (a Twitch streamer with ~100 viewers played it live and loved the idea).
Right now, the biggest weakness is the art - it’s all placeholder. I’m looking for a 2D artist to help shape the visual identity of the game and bring it to life with a polished, consistent style.
What I need help with:
- Propose and shape the visual style (pixelart, cartoon vector, or otherwise - open to what you’re most comfortable with)
- In a first step. create an art prototype to lock in the direction
- In the next steps, produce building and unit sprites/animations, VFX, UI, and store/key art etc.
The game in a nutshell:
- Async multiplayer autobattler with factory-building elements
- Think “Backpack Battles meets Factorio”, “Turn-based PvP Mindustry”, or “Starcraft for Dads”
- Sci-Fi / industrial theme
About me:
- Solo developer (programmer & designer) with a background in finance/tech
- Serious about shipping this game, aiming for Early Access release in 2026
Compensation & first milestone:
This is a paid freelance position with milestone-based payment. Scope will grow and evolve as the project develops. To start, I’d like to commission an art prototype of a factory - e.g. a small tileset, a couple of building sprites, and a unit with idle/walk animation. This will define the game’s visual direction. If we’re both happy with the results, there will be lots of paid ongoing work.
Project duration: 4-6 months, with possibility of extension
Workload: High in the beginning, gradually decreasing with spikes around new features
Location: Remote (CET)
