We are currently looking for a Senior Level Artist to join our talented team and help drive our AAA projects to success.

As a highly talented, proficient and experienced Senior Level Artist, your role is to interpret and extend the overall art direction of the game into elegant yet performant locations and spaces, based on aligned high-level briefs and concept art.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Autonomously create high-quality, immersive environments in real-time game engines.
  • Achieve the right balance of quality and performance, based on the design requirements of the space.
  • Identify and escalate any potential friction points to your leads in a timely manner.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, providing visibility to Team Leads and other stake-holders regarding assigned tasks, methods of execution and resolving problems.
  • Onboard and become adept at the client’s preferred game engine, project-specific pipelines, workflows and tools.
  • Adept knowledge of material creation, texturing, trim sheets, shaders, modular kits.
  • Understand and digest the production process for architectural assets and props.
  • Collaborate with technical artists to author custom shaders and materials which compliment lighting setups within the game engine.
  • Always ready to stand in for leads to fill gaps or blind spots, actively searching for
    solutions.
  • Participate in feedback reviews, collaborate with peers and stakeholders and be willing to make required amendments.
  • Work closely with Producers to estimate tasks and coordinate on deadlines and deliverables.
  • Provide support and aid juniors to unblock tasks when necessary.
  • Mentor and upskill junior artists over time, and conduct regular sessions to transfer knowledge, provide feedback and highlight best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Diploma/Degree in graphic design, 3D art, game development or equivalent training.
  • 3-5 years experience as a Level Artist (level art and world creation, modelling / texturing), with 5-7 years experience in video game production and shipped at least 2 titles on either AAA, AA and mobile platforms.
  • Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine and/or Unity 3D.
  • Expert knowledge of 3ds Max/Maya/Blender.
  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop and Substance Painter and ZBrush.
  • Expert knowledge of the technical constraints relating to real-time 3D art production, 3D engines, and level editors.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to delegate work to the environment art team by translating direction into actionable execution.
  • Strong portfolio showing 3D environment art skills and demonstrating a high level of artistic creativity, form, colour theory and composition. Also good sense of player experience, with the ability to realise visual cues, clear traffic flow and traversal.
  • Experience building immersive and detailed 3D worlds, relevant to AAA game production and development cycles.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret direction.
  • Highly organised, proactive and autonomous in handling tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a cross-disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to learn new software programs and tools, as needed by the client or project engagement.
  • Keep up to date with the latest art, design and cultural trends, along with advancements in technology and the games industry.
