We are looking for a Rigger to join our team on a story-driven anime-inspired action RPG with gacha systems and a strong combat focus, developed in Unreal Engine 5 for PC and mobile with controller support.
The game features a third-person camera, a central hub for character and team management, and mission-based levels of around 15 minutes. Our main references are Wuthering Waves, Arknights: Endfield, and Solo Leveling: ARISE, with a visual style that combines a semi-realistic world and stylized characters.

In this role, you will build production-ready rigs in Maya for characters, bipedal creatures, and related asset parts such as hair, outfits, accessories, and weapons. Rigs must align with the UE5 skeleton standard, including IK bones, and support clean integration into our existing pipeline.
You will be part of the Animation Department, working closely with Character Modeling, and will be expected to deliver both high-quality hero rigs and more efficient secondary rigs while maintaining strong deformation quality across high-poly, low-poly, and LOD-based assets.

Responsibilities

  • Create production-ready rigs including skinning and weight painting in Maya for stylized humanoid characters and bipedal creatures, with the ability to adapt to future quadrupedal creature requirements.
  • Build rigs for supporting asset parts such as hair, outfits, accessories, and weapons.
  • Ensure rigs are compatible with the UE5 skeleton template, including proper IK bone setup and a reliable export pipeline into Unreal Engine 5.
  • Collaborate closely with Animators and Character Artists to ensure rigs support both gameplay and cinematic needs.
  • Maintain strong deformation quality across a range of asset types, from hero characters to more production-efficient secondary rigs.
  • Work correctly across different character asset versions, including high-poly cinematic / PC models, low-poly mobile models, and multiple LODs.
  • Troubleshoot rigging and deformation issues during production and support the team with practical, production-oriented solutions.

Must-haves

  • Proven professional experience in character rigging for games.
  • Strong Maya rigging skills, including building clean, animator-friendly rigs for production.
  • Strong experience with skinning and weight painting, with a high standard for deformation quality.
  • Experience rigging creatures and confidence handling humanoid characters.
  • Solid understanding of game-ready rigging workflows and constraints for Unreal Engine pipelines.
  • Experience working with skeleton standards, hierarchy cleanliness, joint orientation, and IK setup.
  • Ability to build rigs that work across multiple asset targets, including high-poly, low-poly, and LOD-based character setups.
  • Awareness of mobile optimization constraints and how they affect rig complexity and setup decisions.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with facial rigging and creating ARKit-compatible facial blendshapes.
  • Familiarity with Blender and Cascadeur as part of a broader animation pipeline.
  • Experience rigging quadrupedal creatures.
  • Experience supporting both gameplay rigs and cinematic-quality character setups.
  • Basic technical understanding of Unreal Engine character implementation and animation workflows.
