Position Overview
We are hiring a UI/UX Designer & Art Director (individual or compact agency) to lead a full visual redesign of our game’s UI and storefront assets ahead of our Steam and mobile launches. This role combines hands-on UI/UX design and art direction, ensuring our interfaces are clear, engaging, and consistent with our game's meme-inspired style. You will report directly to the Producer and collaborate closely with animators and developers to deliver assets optimized for both mobile and PC platforms.
Pay:
USD $35–$85 per hour (negotiable fixed-bid for agencies).
Core Responsibilities:
- Redesign and implement all UI components, including HUD elements (health bars, stamina indicators, status icons), menus, pop-ups, inventory screens, matchmaking UI, and lobbies for mobile and PC resolutions.
- Provide art direction to unify visual style across in-game UI and marketing materials, ensuring clarity and visual appeal.
- Create immediate assets required for Steam, App Store, and Google Play storefronts (capsule art, banners, screenshots, icons, and animated previews).
- Prototype UI flows using Figma or Adobe XD, then integrate finalized designs into Unity (uGUI/UI Toolkit).
- Collaborate with our technical animator to guarantee UI elements are correctly positioned and animated during cinematic and gameplay trailer captures.
- Optimize UI assets (textures, atlases, fonts, shaders) for performance on high end mobile hardware and high-resolution PC displays.
- Develop and document a clear, detailed UI style guide to maintain consistency across future expansions and updates.
Required Skills:
- 4+ years professional experience designing UI/UX for mobile & PC games.
- Previous shipped titles on Steam and at least one mobile store (iOS or Android).
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and prototyping software (Figma or Adobe).
- Strong understanding of typography, iconography, color theory, responsive layouts, and visual hierarchy.
- Portfolio demonstrating HUD design, intuitive user flows, and polished storefront graphics.
Bonus Skills (at least one preferred):
- Motion graphics in After Effects / Spine / Lottie
- Knowledge of Shader Graph or HLSL for custom UI visual effects.
- Designing for accessibility (colorblind modes, scalable text).
- Experience in data-driven UX design (A/B testing, analytics-driven adjustments)
