This role offers a great deal of autonomy and would suit an experienced programmer who enjoys working in a collaborative, cross-discipline environment. The ideal candidate will work confidently across multiple aspects of our upcoming project, including: systems architecture, tools development, gameplay programming, optimisation and platform integration.
This role is remote, however due to time zone overlap requirements, candidates from the UK and Europe are preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Perform core game, system and platform programming tasks, operating as one of the key players in the development and support of our original titles.
- Use your experience to highlight key areas for improvement, as well as guide the continued development of our games and related pipelines.
- Develop tools to help improve the efficiency of our team.
- Weigh in on non-technical design and creative exploration. As a small team we like to ensure every team member has a stake in the creative process.
Requirements
- Experience in commercial game programming roles.
- Extensive experience working in the Unity game engine.
- Fluent in C#.
- Be a proponent for good software design and architecture.
- Personal initiative: ability to make key decisions without guidance when necessary.
- A solid understanding of modern optimisation techniques for mobile and console titles.
- Excellent communication, creative collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Experience authoring development and testing tools in Unity.
- An interest and willingness to engage in the game design process.
Bonus Points
- Team or product lead experience (in any role).
- Experience with automated build/ testing and CI systems, such as Jenkins.
- Experience in C++ or working with other game engines.
- A passion for managing/supporting/mentoring your fellow engineers.
- Experience with working with dynamic audio systems and middleware (such as Wwise and Fmod).
