About the Role
We are developing a third-person competitive shooter in Unreal Engine 5, currently in beta testing, with a strong focus on online multiplayer systems and long-term live operations.
This role focuses on integrating gameplay-facing online systems and platform services into the game client. You will work on systems such as matchmaking, player parties, clans, social features, platform integrations, account flows, and other online meta-features that connect the game client with backend infrastructure.
You will collaborate closely with gameplay programmers, backend engineers, UI/UX designers, and platform teams while working within an existing large-scale UE5 production environment.
Required Qualifications
We are looking for a senior engineer capable of taking ownership of complex online integrations inside an existing production codebase, not just implementing isolated features.
Strong experience with:
- C++ in production environments
- Unreal Engine 5
- UE5 UI systems (CommonUI or equivalent)
- Online multiplayer systems integration
- Console development and certification requirements
- Backend integration workflows in shipped or live products
Experience with at least one of:
- gRPC + Protobuf
- REST APIs (less preferred but acceptable)
Hands-on experience integrating live-service meta systems such as:
- Matchmaking
- Player parties
- Clans/guilds
- Friends/social systems
- Progression/account systems
- Cross-platform online features
Additionally:
- Experience debugging and maintaining online systems in production
- Familiarity with Steam and console platform services
- Understanding of asynchronous/networked architecture in games
- Experience working within existing multi-team codebases
Responsibilities
- Integrate and maintain online gameplay-facing systems in Unreal Engine 5
- Implement and extend systems such as:
- Matchmaking
- Player parties
- Clan/social systems
- Account and progression flows
- Cross-platform online features
- Build and maintain communication layers between the game client and backend services
- Work with backend engineers on API integration and online feature reliability
- Ensure compliance with console certification requirements for online features
- Collaborate with UI/UX teams on frontend integration of online systems
- Debug and resolve live online issues across multiple platforms
- Contribute to architectural decisions regarding online and backend-connected gameplay systems
Nice-to-Have / Bonus Skills
- Experience with Epic Online Services (EOS)
- Experience shipping multiplayer games on consoles
- Familiarity with PlayStation/Xbox/Nintendo platform SDKs
- Experience with live-service games post-launch
- Understanding of replication and network optimization in UE5
- Familiarity with authentication/account systems
- Experience integrating telemetry or analytics systems
- Experience with dedicated server environments and online infrastructure
