As our Lead 3D Artist, you'll handle the artist team to ensure proper functioning on a project, making sure that all the necessary resources for success are in place, and leading the team to achieve productive performance. The Lead works closely with production managers and Art managers to ensure smooth production and the attainment of objectives.

As a Lead 3D Artist, you will

  • Lead and guide the 3D art team through the product creation process.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams to establish technical and aesthetic guidelines for in-game art.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the team understands the project's requirements for their work.
  • Collaborate with the project and art manager to set performance objectives, coordinate projects with artists, and conduct regular one-on-one sessions to provide support.
  • Coordinate quality control for each deliverable, ensuring artists follow QA pipelines, and work closely with Art QA and project managers to improve the team's quality performance.
  • Be accountable for the team's capacity to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and productivity goals.
  • Represent the art team in client interactions, effectively conveying feedback and complex subjects.
  • Maintain organized archives of client pipeline information, documents, and feedback using appropriate platforms (Confluence, drives).
  • Assist in the art department recruitment process, including evaluations, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and development.
  • Actively assist project managers and the Art Manager in the project closing process to document the team’s learning and action plan.
  • Ensure that the necessary conditions for success are in place to deliver the best product, by preparing your team and collaborating closely with the Art Manager, Project Manager, and Producer.
  • Solve complex problems in a structured manner, from assessment and research to planning, organization, and execution.
  • Be available to perform artistic tasks within production when required.
  • Lead by example, inspire and motivate people, guide other artists in best practices, processes, and production procedures.
  • Work closely with project managers on task tracking, ensuring deliveries are secured and deadlines are met.
  • Stay informed about industry and technological trends, and provide guidance to your team based on this knowledge.
Requirements

  • Proven experience in the area. (8+ years or relevant experience)
  • Advanced experience in art team management and pipeline oversight.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and adapting product quality in context.
  • Proficiency in various art styles and 3D media.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools including, but not limited to, Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, Substance Suite.
  • Proficiency in engine integrations (Unity, Unreal 4-5, CryEngine, proprietary, etc.).
  • Strong capability to learn new tools and methods, adapting to evolving industry standards.
  • Effective analytical, written, oral, teamwork, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing art teams and pipelines.
  • Advanced understanding of game art creation pipelines across diverse styles.
  • Proficiency in analytical, written, oral, teamwork, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening and effective information communication.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
