Bithell Games was founded in 2013 after the success of Thomas Was Alone, and has since continued that success with a string of games, from original IP, to collaborations on licensed IP. We’re known internationally for our often surprising, but always entertaining projects.
Our team is made up of a mix of full time and contract employees, all working remotely since the company’s founding. This lets us work fast, creatively and with more flexibility. We take enormous pride in the quality of the games we produce, but put equal weight on our company’s treatment of workers. We have never crunched, and we never will.
We have a number of exciting projects on the boil right now, and are hiring for a range of roles. We’re excited to continue to expand our team and make more awesome games.
Currently, we’re looking for a Lead Artist. You’ll be entering a team which has not had a Lead Artist up to this point, taking on responsibilities previously held by the game’s director. You’ll oversee an expansion of the game’s art team, working to maintain consistency and processes, and working directly with the director to figure out a shared vision. You’ll refine our processes and work with the project manager to deliver all art and animation assets with your team.
Responsibilities:
- Day to day and sprint level planning of art tasks within your team.
- Support and mentorship of the game’s art team, providing feedback and guidance in delivering their assets.
- Direct collaboration with the director and project manager to figure out high level solutions to art team challenges and opportunities.
- You’ll define and lead art processes and pipelines across the project, ensuring best practices and workflows across the game.We’re a small company, so we value collaboration with team members across all disciplines, and you’ll be expected to communicate and work well with the whole team.
- You’ll be a proactive and positive contributor to the project, and support your team.
Requirements:
- High level experience of Unity art pipelines and best practices.
- Multiple shipped games as an artist, with at least one project in a senior role.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent general experience of all departments within game development.
Nice to have:
- Management experience.
- Concept art experience.
- General tech art skills.
- Experience with Blender.
- Experience with art population of large scale game worlds.
