Who we are
Uppercut Games is an independent game developer based in the beautiful ACT region of Australia. Originally founded in 2011 by 3 industry veterans with penchant for amazing visuals, cutting-edge technology and deep and engrossing game design, the studio has grown into a diverse, tight knit team of 16 awesome, amazing humans.
We’ve released several critically-acclaimed titles for mobile, console and PC - including Epoch, Submerged and City of Brass - and are now busily crafting our next title, which we’re looking forward to sharing with the world soon.
Who we need
We’re currently looking for a VFX Artist, with significant previous experience in creating optimised, visually-compelling in-game visual effects, to join our team remotely on a 3 month fixed-term contract.
The main responsibilities for this role will revolve primarily around authoring new scaleable in-game and cinematic VFX, creating Fake Sims (particularly water, rain and debris) and optimising existing assets for multiple platforms. You’ll need to have in-depth knowledge of Unreal in general, and Cascade/Niagara especially, 3DS Max and ideally also previous experience shipping PC or console games.
What you’ll do
- Create and integrate new visually-compelling and performant in-game VFX and simulations.
- VFX for cutscenes.
- Optimise existing VFX content and simulations.
- Bug fixing as required.
What you’ll need
- Unreal 4 and 3DS Max experience, working knowledge of Cascade/Niagara.
- Demonstrated ability to create intricate, performant simulations and VFX assets.
- Previous experience with optimization of VFX assets for multiple platforms.
- Ability to work remotely, including software and appropriate hardware.
