Technical Designer

Contract

We are Team Trauma, a group of three developers, and we are hiring!

Team Trauma is looking for an experienced technical designer to help bring our prototype to life. Our game – Drag Her – is a 2D fighting game featuring mainstream drag queens duking it out in a highly camp universe, and we are at an exciting juncture in our development.

As a peer in development, you would be one of four on the team. You will collaborate with our creative lead and narrative designer to design and implement character art, animation, and develop movesets, with our producer supporting you and advocating for your needs.

There is a great deal of creative freedom in this role - utilising a brief, you will build both systems and tools independently, with a significant part of your work involving iterating to develop the right feel for the game. The right designer will also be able to identify gaps in the core experience, and feel confident enough to bring solutions to the table.

To succeed in this role, you will need to:
  • Have experience in building similar games in Unity
  • Build out mechanics, and support decisions with C#
  • Draw on a deep knowledge of fighting games to design & develop systems
  • Use JIRA & equivalent tools to track work

It would benefit you if:
  • You understand queer culture, including the modern drag scene
  • Were a part of the broader fighting game community
  • Can demonstrate your ability to collaborate

This role is a part-time contract position, fully remote, for an anticipated length of three months. There is a chance of the role extending and becoming full-time if the project secures additional funding. Pay is $25-35 USD/hr and is negotiable further depending on experience.

If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, please email us at DragHerJobs@gmail.com with your resume and a link to your portfolio.
Thank you for your time!
