After the hugely successful 2019 and 2020 Internships, which resulted in over 100 applications each, Super Spline is proud to open applications for our paid Games Animation Internship for Summer 2021.

Due to the uncertainties COVID-19 has us in, this may well end up starting as a remote position, but we hope that it will eventually turn into an on site position in Leamington Spa, UK. Therefore, only those eligible to work in England can participate. Unfortunately we cannot organise visa’s / work permits.

What we expect from you?

An understanding of the 12 animation principles
A good understanding of human and animal locomotion
Efficient knowledge in 3D animation software (Maya)
Be able to demonstrate your skills in a small demo reel
Great communication, presentation, organisation, problem-solving and time management skills
A high level of adaptability; driven to continually grow and develop
Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude!

What can you expect from us?

You will be assigned a mentor who has been animating for over a decade
Become a better animator and game developer
Get your first commercial credit, your name on at least one shipped title!
Understand the pipeline from Maya, exporting and implementing in game engine
A fun and relaxed working environment
Real world production techniques and problem solving
Working on different styles of animation

Paid, Location and Date?

Super Spline offers paid internships as we believe hard work should be rewarded, and you can’t pay bills with hopes and dreams. It’ll be located at our HQ in Leamington Spa in the heart of the UK. Leamington is a hub of game developers so you’ll likely get to meet devs from big studios like Microsofts Playground, Electric Square, Rebellion, Sumo, Ubisoft and Sega. Housing or relocation assistance is not provided. We are an animation studio so only offer internships in 3D animation, at this stage it will specifically be tailored to animation for video games. The start date is from June/July, but we can be flexible. This will be offered on a three month basis, we hope to extend this period in the future.

Who is eligible for an internship? Are international students eligible?

Anybody is eligible as long as you have a passion for animation and can demonstrate your skills and willingness to pursue a career in animation. A degree in a closely related field or having completed an online animation course is an added bonus. However, as mentioned above, we can not offer working visa’s, so only those eligible to work in the UK can apply.
