What we are looking for:
Striking Distance Studios is looking for a Technical Designer to work in a cooperative, cross-disciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, document, and tune game mechanics, controls, and systems.
  • Work with Leads, Systems Designers, Animators and Engineers to create compelling gameplay mechanics.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure highest level of quality and to guarantee visibility and alignment
  • Fully document design for Engineers, Prop Artists, and Animators. Creatively solve system conflicts and troubleshoot technical limitations
  • Balance and tune gameplay to ensure the highest level of player engagement.
  • Communicate with Production to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Work with Design to create tools/workflow enhancements that can benefit the team as a whole through production.
  • Work with all teams to prototype and prove out the viability of content, whether it be tools or gameplay mechanics.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3+ years AAA design.
  • A strong understanding of design principles and combat design.
  • Experience working in UE4/UE5
  • Coding experience. Preferably with Unreal C++.
  • Very Experienced with Scripting languages, and visual scripting languages. (Blueprint knowledge preferred)
  • A passion and hunger to make the best games.
In California, the expected salary range for this position is $115,000-$140,000. The listed expected salary range represents a good faith estimate and the actual pay may depend on a variety of job-related factors that can include experience, education, skills, and location.
