As a Game Designer, you will define both the moment-to-moment gameplay and the overall player progression for an unannounced original game with EA Originals. Please note this is not a narrative role.

You will work independently, as part of a team of designers, and as a collaborator across disciplines to deliver polished, engaging and compelling gameplay features.

  • Advocating for the player experience to the rest of the team
  • Creating and maintaining game design documentation (concept briefs, detailed feature specifications, etc.)
  • Helping to establish best practices and guidelines for the whole team
  • Conceptualising and prototyping innovative game systems
  • Collaborating and coordinating with animation, art, audio, programming, UI and VFX to bring features to final quality
  • Finding and implementing innovative solutions for technical and creative design issues
  • Tweaking and balancing gameplay based on self critique, leadership direction, review feedback and playtest results

What we'd like to see from you:

  • 2+ years working within the games industry in a design capacity
  • Commercially shipped at least one title as a game designer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to both technical and non-technical audiences in a succinct manner
  • Able to multitask and prioritise with limited supervision
  • Able to break down high-level design goals into smaller individual components
  • Proven experience with responsive character-driven gameplay systems such as locomotion, combat, camera, AI and skill progression
  • An avid player of games with excellent understanding of the game market and design trends
  • Good knowledge of Unreal Engine and Blueprint Scripting

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience playing Action, Action/Adventure, Action RPG and/or Fighting games
  • Knowledge of key combat design concepts
  • Knowledge of key animation concepts
  • Knowledge of camera functionality and dynamics
