Junior Technical/VFX - artist (UE4)

We are seeking a versatile and solution-oriented Technical/VFX-artist to join our team in the development of our newest IP: "Project Thalassa". Because of the current Covid-19 situation, we are open for hires to work remotely, but we are also a tight-knit team and would of course see it as a strength to be able to work together once things have improved. We take pandemic precautions very seriously and facilitate social distancing in the office as well as infrastructure to work from home.

The stuff that we'd let you have fun with:
  • Develop complex and visually stunning particle and shader effects
  • Work closely with artists, animators, designers, and programmers to implement effects
  • Concept, propose, and implement creative ideas for in game content
  • Contribute to building atmospheric game experiences Unreal
  • Lighting and Shading scenes and assets in Unreal
  • Using Unreal's Niagara particle system to design and create FX
  • Create and debug shader and materials graphs throughout production
  • Support the development team with level implementation in Unreal
  • Provide the art team with guidelines for art content creation for Unreal
  • Work with the art team to make levels efficient and meet run-time performance requirements
  • Help to improve technical pipelines and FX creation techniques/tools
Must have
  • Experience with UE4
  • Fluent in English ++or++ Norwegian
Should have:
  • Technical knowledge and familiarity of UE4
  • Proficient in optimizing effects and shaders to maintain the game running at target fps
  • Ability to communicate with people across multiple departments
  • Understanding of scale, timing, detail, form, texture, and color
  • A passion for problem-solving
  • Must have experience with Lighting and Shading in Unreal
  • Experience with particle systems
  • Understanding of the PBR workflow and working with Textures for look development
  • Knowledge in Blueprints, materials - able to rapidly prototype features using blueprints/shaders
Could have (for extra bonus points):
  • Experience with VR development
  • Experience with performance profiling in Unreal
  • Experience with the Substance suite such as Substance Designer and Substance Automation Tools
  • Shader coding in HLSL / GLSL
  • Experience creating functional levels in Unreal
  • Experience with Source Control (Git/ Plastic ideally)
  • Analyze content using profiling tools and work with developers to reduce scene complexity
