Freelance
We are building a stylized anime action RPG in Unreal Engine (PC + Mobile, crossplay). For a 15 minute Gamescom demo (target: August), we are producing a small set of high impact in game cinematics using Level Sequence / Sequencer.
We are looking for a Remote Unreal Cinematic Artist (Freelance) who can set up shots in Unreal, build strong camera language, assemble sequences, and create clean gameplay handovers.
Our animation workflow is DCC first (Maya or Blender). We do not rely on Unreal Control Rig being set up.
You will work closely with our Cinematic Director, Lead Animator, Tech Artist, and VFX and Lighting.

Your mission
  • Turn storyboards and shot lists into playable, in engine cinematics that feel premium and are easy to iterate.
  • Create expressive, readable camera work that supports action and emotion.
  • Keep the pipeline clean: consistent shot structure, naming, versioning, and predictable handoffs.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain Level Sequences and shot structure (shots, sub sequences, takes, versioning).
  • Set up and animate cameras: framing, lens choices, camera movement, shake, focus, and pacing.
  • Assemble imported animation assets into sequencers, handle timing and retiming, and maintain continuity.
  • Collaborate with the Cinematic Director on cut decisions, rhythm, and cinematic language.
  • Work with the Lead Animator to ensure animation readability and camera alignment.
  • Support gameplay integration: triggers, safe handover back to gameplay camera, state restore, and sequencing constraints.
  • Coordinate with VFX and Lighting for shot polish and consistency.
  • Troubleshoot common Sequencer issues: bindings, possessables vs spawnables, animation tracks, transforms, and evaluation.

What we are looking for
Must haves
  • Proven experience as a Cinematic Artist / Sequencer Artist / Layout Artist in Unreal Engine.
  • Strong camera fundamentals: composition, continuity, action readability, pacing, and cut rhythm.
  • Solid understanding of Unreal Sequencer workflows: Level Sequence, sub sequences, shot tracks, camera cuts.
  • Ability to collaborate tightly in a shot based pipeline with fast iteration.
  • Reliable remote communication and steady delivery cadence.

Nice to haves
  • Experience with stylized or anime action projects.
  • Basic understanding of animation principles to give constructive feedback and spot issues.
  • Experience with gameplay to cinematic transitions in Unreal (camera blending, player control states).
  • Familiarity with performance constraints on mobile and scalable settings.

How to apply
Please send:
  • Portfolio or reel (in engine cinematics in Unreal preferred)
  • Your CV
  • Availability (start date, weekly hours)
  • Your monthly salary expectation in dollar for full time (40h per week)
