Senior Technical Artist

Sony Bend Studio, renowned creator of Days Gone, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and Syphon Filter, is seeking outstanding talent to join our passionate and creative family in crafting our next high-profile AAA console title.
We are seeking a Senior Technical Artist who will help drive and contribute to the technical development of AAA products with a specialized focus on creating art tools, techniques, and processes for game development. 

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of artistic techniques and processes to define and achieve a product’s visual style and encourage artistic technical evolution within the studio. This entails expanding methods to improve the production pipeline, tools, and processes to create the desired quality as efficiently as possible.
  • Create prototypes that demonstrate technical production goals and help define the technical quality standards.
  • Oversee or create assets as needed to enhance the visual experience and intended gameplay.
  • Contribute to the creative process with original ideas and inspiration.
  • Maintain the high quality expected of the studio and fostering the same level of quality in the other team members.
  • Keeps aware of industry trends and technical techniques, evaluates competitive products and determines areas we can improve or innovate. Communicates innovations in a convincing way, and collaborates with the leadership team to develop plans for implementation.
  • Address feedback from the leads and director in a timely manner, communicating time needed and understanding of the feedback given.
  • Work with the Leads to mentor and guide more junior artists.
  • Ideal candidate will have relevant experience creating high quality rigs for weapons and vehicles.
Requirements/Education:
  • Highly proficient in Python; some knowledge of Qt and C++ is a plus.
  • Highly proficient in the use of 3D software such as Maya.
  • Strong reading and comprehension skills to fully understand complex process description documents, design documents, and written assignments.
  • The ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with all team members and within group settings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take complex design documents and create achievable plans for converting to in-game assets.
  • Familiarity with agile development, and rapid prototyping processes
  • Able to complete tasks and assignments quickly with little need for iterative rework.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$98,200—$147,400 USD
