Do you want to take part in creating the game of a lifetime?
At Mainframe, we are building Pax Dei: a social sandbox MMO, a living world where myths are real, ghosts exist, and magic is unquestioned. A world that players worldwide will call their home and where they will craft their stories for years to come.

Your mission:
Do you want to raise the bar on infrastructure engineering, smooth operations, and reliable server infrastructure across multiple regions in the cloud?
Mainframe’s Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) use systems expertise combined with software engineering patterns to help define, create, and support the architecture, build systems, server orchestration, and operations of services across the business. Our talented engineers focus on delivering reliability-as-a-feature through great designs, repeatable deployments, monitoring, automation, and everything-as-code. Our SRE team is a mix of operations and software people.

Your responsibilities:
We are looking for someone that will employ their system knowledge to design reliable and performant infrastructure, triage problems and tune of our resources to match the demand from our playerbase. Someone that champions automation to reduce manual work and increase development velocity. Someone that loves solving problems and strives to be better, smarter and faster tomorrow than they are today.

Some success indicators for your role:
  • You have experience with at least one cloud provider, preferably AWS
  • You are well versed in monitoring and alerting, using and operating services like Datadog, Sentry, Prometheus & Grafana
  • You are used to using tools such as Terraform and Packer to write infrastructure-as-code and making repeatable deployment patterns
  • You are comfortable with both Windows and Linux
  • You have experience of working with Docker containerization, deploying services to kubernetes, as well as managing and operating kubernetes clusters
  • You have experience with creating and optimizing CI/CD pipelines such as ArgoCD or FluxCD
  • You have a drive to not only work with DevOps practices but also to champion them at Mainframe.
What is in it for you:

Our Foundation team consists of experts that are responsible for the infrastructure and operations of our cloud services. We build the underlying technology that enables the world of Pax Dei to breathe and scale - keeping the game and its services alive, tuned correctly for all our players to enjoy. We’re building systems to monitor usage of servers and continuously match the capacity in our clusters – so that we utilize our resources well while providing a great experience for our customers. We believe in repeatable processes - creating the automation to deploy our infrastructure, roll out updates to our services, collect metrics and monitoring data, and be aware of issues before our players are.
