Level Designer - Voxel/Block Game

We are currently seeking a Level Designer/Block Game Builder to join our team on our recently announced Adventure Block Game. As a Level Designer, you will be responsible for creating the world in which the game takes place, working with  a small team to create a unique and memorable adventure game in the voxel game genre.  
This role is fully remote, with flexible working hours.

Responsibilities
  • Work alongside our Game Designer and Artists to facilitate the design and creation of various gameplay spaces and levels
  • Create in game assets that will be used in our proc-gen engine to create gameplay spaces
  • Work within the game engine to alter the parameters for terrain generation to create unique gameplay spaces
Requirements
  • Fluent in speaking, listening to, writing and reading English
  • Familiar with working in a self motivated and organized remote environment
  • Comfortable working in a cross-timezone team with flexible working hours
  • Experience creating assets for and in Voxel/Block Games (Vintage Story, Minecraft, etc)
  • Experience building block/voxel game environments using in game mechanics and tools
  • Proven ability to create maps, levels and assets at a consistent level of quality
  • Capable of designing and creating creative and entertaining maps, levels, assets and more
Ideal applicants may also have:
  • Familiarity with working with JSON config files
  • Familiarity with asset creation or modding within the Vintage Story engine

About Anego Studios

Vintage Story was created with the desire to push the envelope of the survival voxel game genre. This genre, established by that one game most of us know and love, also hit just the right chord for Tyron and Saraty, which they played together with great joy for several years. Not being satisfied with the direction this game was taking, they created the mod Butterfly Mania that introduced hundreds of collectible butterflies to liven up the game world and to keep the game interesting. These modding efforts then evolved into a total conversion mod called Vintagecraft that came with its own terrain generation, blocks, crafting mechanics and a slow progression system. The limitations of the 3rd party modding api became more and more apparent however.

In 2015, Tyron was hired by Hypixel to work on their standalone game Hytale, however the game in planning was also not the experience either of them envisioned. And thus, in February 2016, Tyron left Hypixel and began building a new game engine with the goal of turning the vision of Vintagecraft into a stand alone game. Since then we have grown from one programmer to a small team of passionate game developers.
Now, 8 years later since its inception, we still feel like we have barely scratched the surfaces of what is possible. We look forward to exploring these new avenues for many years to come!
