We’re looking for a Principal Artist to help establish the company’s visual identity, create assets, and ship exciting experiences to players.
At 2weeks we’re a small team making games for the open web—we build fast, ship early, and work in public. Each of our developers wear lots of different hats!

We’re looking for a Principal Artist to help establish the company’s visual identity, create assets, and ship exciting experiences to players. In this role, you’ll drive development of art workflow, systems, tools, and content across a wide range of game launches and live updates. This is a 3D generalist role across a variety of art skillsets including game-ready 3D assets, animation, VFX and more.

This role is a part of creative leadership at the studio and collaborates across all disciplines—reporting to and supported by the studio CCO. Help us build our studio from the ground up!

Core responsibilities & objectives
  • Collaborate with creative leadership to develop games from concept to completion.
  • Work closely with studio leadership to develop and scope planning to ensure reasonable development timeframes and work/life balance.
  • Establish and iterate on workflow and pipeline for creation of game assets.
  • Create and implement assets needed for a variety of 2D/3D games—modeling, texturing, rigging/animation, VFX.
  • Direct asset creation by external contractors.
  • Model joyful collaboration, open communication, and a respectful, inclusive work culture.

Core traits (skills, knowledge, experience)
  • Game development experience in an art implementation role (4+ years).
  • Deep understanding of art specializations and the challenges that they encompass.
  • Skilled in relevant DCC software—Blender, Maya, Photoshop, Substance, etc.
  • Empathetic and supportive collaboration across many disciplines and experience levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.

Bonus (nice to have but not required)
  • Experience with PBR & materials.
  • Experience creating and iterating on shaders.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Lua or Python.
  • Prior experience developing early access games; pre and post launch.
  • Experience working on small indie teams through a full production cycle.
  • Experience developing games that have shipped on the web or mobile.
  • Design experience or comfort engaging w/design work. Everyone at 2weeks has the opportunity to propose games and is expected to jump into design discussions to help iterate and improve our games.

Pay transparency information

The expected annual base pay range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000 USD. In addition to base pay, qualified employees may be eligible to participate in our Stock Incentive Plan.
