* This is a full time position. We are working remotely or hybrid so  you are welcome to work from our office in Nice, FR, or remain fully remote if you prefer. 

Wolcen is looking for a passionate and talented early career  Technical Animator, interested in improving the animation pipeline and working within Unreal Engine 5, in our journey to develop our next unannounced project. You will work with multiple disciplines to identify effective solutions, be a strong communicator with the goal of ensuring all involved parties have a common understanding of the system and our shared goals.

What you will do as a Junior Technical Animator at Wolcen :
  • Develop, test and maintain characters rigs.  
  • Take care of the character deformations
  •  Integration of the character assets into the game engine
  • Help the animation team define, create, and maintain pipelines and workflows for Character Art & Animation Interact and collaborate with different teams (Art, Design, Code) to fulfill tasks according to production schedule and development needs.  

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications & Skills :
  • Proficiency with DCC tools such as Maya 
  • Good understanding of human/animal anatomy to be able to create accurate deformation on the character body for videogames
  •  Good Knowledge in skinning and rigging techniques in Maya
  •  Be adaptable, approachable, and positive in the workplace
  • Mathematical and logical mindset 
  • Good written and verbal English communication  as we are an international company

What could be nice to have: 
  • Working knowledge with Mel & Python scripting in Maya 
  • Working knowledge of C++
    Understanding of concepts like: Auto rig systems, facial rigs, animation retargeting, motion capture pipeline
  •  Knowledge of engines such as CryEngine and Unreal Engine

We are Wolcen Studio, an ambitious and expanding video game company headquartered in Nice, France, with talented colleagues across two European hubs. Formed in 2015 following the successful funding campaign of our first title, Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, the company has subsequently grown from a handful of driven individuals to a full studio. Our flagship title Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem was fully released in February 2020, and the studio has been supporting the game with content and updates since. A second studio, Wolcen East in Bucharest, Romania, was formed in September 2020 to help deliver our long-term plans for both the game and future projects.
