Mid-Level
Contract position at a small indie studio working on their first game. This is a narrative focused game with heavy inspiration from TTRPG’s such as Dungeons and Dragons and contemporary CRPG’s such as Disco Elysium and classics like Planetscape: Torment. 
We are seeking an experienced Editor to collaborate on refining and enhancing the writing and narrative assets that will shape the player's journey. The ideal candidate is located +/- 3 hours from CET timezone.



What you’ll be doing

  • Review and edit texts for in-game non-dialogue elements, including tooltips, item descriptions, journal entries, UI elements, and other ancillary text
  • Reviewing, providing feedback, and editing content such as dialogue trees, special quest items, NPC descriptions, quest logs with detailed steps, and other elements that shape gameplay flow.
  • Give and solicit feedback throughout the process to ensure a high quality and player-centric design principles are upheld.
  • Collaborate with the main Writer to improve and refine narrative elements in a custom version of Notepad++.
  • Work in tandem with other team members to align narrative implementation with gameplay.

 
Your Skills & Experience

  • Work experience on at least 1 shipped game 
  • You are fluent in written English
  • Previous experience implementing narrative events in games or similar technical work.
  • Familiarity with narrative design principles and their application in games.
  • Experience with ink script or similar non-visual narrative scripting tools.
  • Self motivated and able work independently as part of a fully distributed and, at times, a-sync team to meet deadlines and milestone requirements

  • Mid-level expertise preferred—this role is not suited for interns or entry-level applicants.
