North America or Asia/Pacific
We are looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Tester to test our game's release over multiple platforms, including mobile, tablet, PC, and console. We're now fully in our production phase, so we want to bring on someone to work alongside our team to make sure that we're building the best game we can. Our target hiring timeline is to bring on our new team member in early 2021.

At Studio Drydock, we're focused on building experiences for underserved audiences, who may not identify as gamers, but still seek exciting and meaningful experiences. We like to describe our current project as a cozy life simulation game with a strong narrative and a touch of magic. If this sounds aligned with your values and interests, please consider applying!

This is an entry-level role, so instead of asking for industry experience, we're looking for a candidate who is:
  • A strong communicator who can describe issues with the game and help the Producer coordinate testing efforts with outsourced QA teams.
  • Appreciative of cozy games, builders, and life simulation games who can express their love of the genre by making informed suggestions to improve the project and processes.
  • A kind and supportive team member – someone who doesn't hesitate to give others feedback on their work in a way that makes them feel valued and is excited to present their ideas when others have problems.
Because this may be a new experience for you, we want to assure you that we will be providing training and support along the way. Eventually you will report to the producer and do the following:
  • Playing in-development builds of the game extensively on each of the target platforms, logging defects and verifying fixes.
  • Creating and maintaining well-defined test plans to meet the functional and technical specifications of the project.
  • Collaborating with the development team and external QA teams to identify, report, and recreate bugs, communicate ideas and issues clearly, and ensure the highest quality outcomes.
  • Leading discussions regarding the status of defects in the testing phase and collaborating with Production on prioritization of remaining issues to ensure these are addressed and resolved.
More details about this position:
  • Work around your family and personal commitments. Work any hours of the day and week that make sense for you. We generally communicate over Slack or email, with occasional voice/video chat when convenient.
  • You will need to have some reasonable time zone overlap with both Melbourne and the US.
  • We'll be trusting you to be self-motivated and able to manage your own time, but our Producer will be around to answer your questions and provide guidance whenever you need it!
This will be a full-time fixed-contract position for 12-18 months, covering the project's duration.
