Unreal Engine 4 Junior Programmer (In house or remote)

We are looking for a junior programmer with a passion for games to join our team working on an exciting simulation title. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, as well as being familiar with C++ and blueprinting processes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the senior programmer on the team, plus working with all disciplines in the studio.

  • Implement vehicle physics in UE4 for our Train Sim World DLC products using blueprints and Dovetail Games' own simulation extension.

  • Working closely with the team to turn ideas from design, through prototyping, to production.

  • Help drive the team forward by implementing the technical aspect of the process into UE4 using blueprints. 

  • Test, debug, profile, analyse and optimise your code

Commercial Experience
  • Graduate level or 1-2 years experience.  This is not a hard and fast number, just an indicator of experience level.

Required Skills
  • Proactive individual with a can-do attitude.

  • Comfortable working with a team of mixed disciplines, with good verbal and written skills.

  • An undergraduate or post graduate degree in computer science or a related subject

  • Good knowledge of working in UE4.

  • Good C++ programming, comfortable coding and debugging systems.

  • Comfortable using blueprinting in UE4.

  • An understanding of vehicle physics

  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.

  • Be self-motivated and proactive as well as working under guidance and as part of a team.

  • A passion for all forms of games.

  • Excellent Communication skills (Verbal and Written)

  • Ability to receive and implement feedback

Beneficial Skills
  • Previous commercial or professional Development experience

  • Experience with Jira and Confluence or similar

  • Source control experience (SVN)

  • Experience with or playing Simulation Games

  • We are based in Liverpool, but the role can be a remote position.  We will hopefully return to the office at some point in 2021, and the successful candidate could choose to work in house if they preferred.

  • If that happened, you must be eligible to work in the UK, we are not able to offer sponsorship for this position.

  • We can offer this position as contract of full time depending on the preference of the candidate.
