This is a part-time remote role, requiring approximately 8 hours per week for 12 weeks.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with partnering game studios. Scope and prepare student assignments.
- Conduct weekly office hours. Provide personalized mentorship and address individual learning.
- Facilitate weekly stand-ups. Track progress, encourage collaboration, and foster accountability.
- Deliver in-depth code reviews. Offer actionable, industry-standard feedback to improve student projects.
- Guide students in leveraging online resources and best practices. Help them master game development concepts and explore specific topics that they’re interested in more deeply.
- Work closely with the program team. Tackle unknowns, innovate solutions, and refine the curriculum to enhance the student experience.
Qualifications
- Industry expertise. 7+ years of professional experience in game development, with a strong portfolio showcasing shipped games or significant contributions.
- Technical mastery. Proficiency in game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) and programming languages (e.g., C++, C#, Python), with deep expertise in at least one key area of game development such as gameplay programming, systems design, AI, physics simulation, graphics programming, networking, tools/pipeline development, or sound integration/engineering.
- Mentorship experience. Previous experience teaching, mentoring, or managing others in related fields, whether in a professional, academic, or volunteer setting.
- Communication skills. Exceptional ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to students.
