Job Title: Finance Manager

Position Overview:
We are seeking an entrepreneurial, highly organized, and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee our financial operations in Munich. The Finance Manager will be responsible for financial planning, reporting, and compliance, with additional duties in grant administration and office management as needed. This role requires a proactive professional who can wear multiple hats and balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution to ensure smooth financial and administrative operations.
Areas of Responsibility:
Finance
- Own all financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and banking. Experience with cross-border payroll is an asset.
- Build and manage budgets, forecasts and cash flow planning
- Deliver monthly and annual financial statements and internal/external reporting. You will be supported by a bookkeeper.
- Work with external accountants, tax advisors and auditors to ensure compliance with German accounting standards (HGB), tax regulations (VAT and payroll taxes), and internal policies
Grants
- Track and monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and compliance
- Prepare grant applications and reporting for funding agencies
- Own relationship between company and funding agencies
Office
- Manage software licenses, external vendors and office supplies/equipment
- Support management with office search and setup
- Support HR processes such as onboarding and expense reimbursements
- Ensure the Munich office runs smoothly (IT, facilities, insurance, etc.)
Your Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting; video game industry and startup experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and tax regulations
- Experience with grant applications and compliance (big plus if you’ve worked with EU or German programs) and the debt and fundraising landscape in Germany
