Full-Time, Contract or Employment. 100% Remote.

We are looking for a writer to join our team at Cute Newt and work on our (unannounced) game that’s been in production for several years. We've got a general direction in mind for the writing, but we want someone to come in and really take the story, make it their own, and hit the ground running. There's a lot of writing to do!

Requirements:

Demonstratable experience with

writing character dialogue.

Fluency in English.
Wonderful creative writing skills.
Strong communication skills.

Desirable Skills:

The more skills the merrier! Even if it’s not on this list it could be quite useful.

Knowledge and experience with video games.
Experience with Twine or other similar tools.
Experience with Unity.
Ability to help prepare documentation for localization.
Ability to adapt to a given toolset to help implement the writing into the game.
Able to work roughly at the same time as the rest of the team who are mostly located in the UK.

Examples of work required:

The vast majority of the writing will be character dialogue. You'll meet and regularly talk with a variety of different characters, each with their own stories to tell in the classic "dialogue box" video gamey way.
You may design and write cutscenes.
You'll write quest descriptions and more!

Cute Newt is a video game company based in London, England and is working on it's first game as a company.

Hello, I'm George Wyman V, the director of Cute Newt LTD. I was previously the Lead Artist at Chucklefish LTD and worked on Starbound from 2011-2016, helping bring the game into Early Access and all the way through to release. Starbound has sold more than 3 million copies and I was proud to be a part of it's creation at Chucklefish.

I left to create this company and make a new game. We're a small team of four and aim to create high quality indie games for everyone, while having fun making them!
