We are looking for a Narrative Designer/Writer for a 4-month contract (preferably freelance) starting in May. As our Narrative Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the soul of Spirit World. You will collaborate closely with the team to flesh out a cozy magical world that feels alive and quirky.
The theme of the game is "becoming a witch," heavily featuring magic and nature, but we are stepping away from traditional medieval tropes. We need someone who can craft a world that feels fresh, modern, and inviting, and who can write dialogue that is cheeky, funny, and sharp.
What you will be doing:
- Fleshing out the world of Spirit World collaboratively with the team
- Writing the overall story arc
- Creating new, memorable characters
- Designing story beats that fit seamlessly into our gameplay loops
- Writing dialogue
Who this role is for:
- You are a writer who thrives on cozy, magical, and nature-inspired themes.
- You have a knack for writing short punchy dialogue that pops.
- You want to use your narrative skills to promote wellness, relaxation, and self-care in players' lives.
- You actively support a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, and inclusiveness.
Who this role is NOT for:
- Writers looking to build dark, gritty, or medieval fantasy worlds. Our magic is cozy, modern, and quirky.
- Those who prefer to work in a silo; this role requires close collaboration to ensure the narrative coheres with the game design and art direction.
Practicalities:
- Position is contract-based - 4 months (full-time, part-time or freelance)
- Salary: 2000 EUR per month (full-time equivalent; pro-rated for part-time hours)*
- The job is either remote or on-site at our office in V74, Vesterbrogade 74, Copenhagen V, Denmark
- Our working language is English
*We welcome applications from regions where this compensates well for a full-time role, but remain open to discussing a part-time arrangement pro-rated against this full-time equivalent budget.
Important:
Please apply through the provided link, as we need to keep track of all applicants in one place.
If you choose to work on site:
- Free lunch
- Free coffee and tea in the office
- Heaps of love from our office dog Maki
- Social gatherings and events
- Inclusive culture
- Our working language is English
