We are seeking a mid to senior-level designer to help craft levels for an upcoming game.
You’ll be joining a small, collaborative team where you’ll work closely with another level designer and a lead developer to create compelling content. This 6-month contract position can begin immediately and is full-time remote with the potential to be extended. Our team is distributed across the world so you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule but will have to accommodate meetings across time zones. Your primary collaborators will be CEST-based.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with level designer and lead developer to create engaging 2D levels for a touch-based platformer.
- Design level components for procedurally generated game modes.
- Ensure logical player progression experience.
- Solicit playtest feedback, analyse the results and adjust game levels accordingly.
- Iterate on level designs based on feedback.
- Provide clear and helpful feedback on other team member’s level designs.
Requirements
- 3+ years professional (paid) experience in video game level design.
- Demonstrated ability to design levels for 2D platforming games.
- Able to design to accommodate a range of player skill levels.
- Familiarity with Unity, good understanding of prefabs and prefab variants.
- Ability to produce high-quality work on a deadline.
- Willing to accommodate CEST hours when necessary.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong preference will be given to applicants who have experience with procedural generation.
Bonus – it’s nice to have, but not required
- Experience working in the mobile games industry.
- UI/UX minded.
- Familiarity with Tiled editor (https://www.mapeditor.org/)
