Playbyte is looking for a full-time engineer to help us build a platform where anyone can make and share small, fun games. At sub-10 employees, each new hire has an outsized impact, with a broad opportunity to define what we work on and how we work on it.
Our mission is to create “good internet”: to allow users to connect and share in a healthy, creative environment. A good front-end engineer cares about building strong bones for playful expression.
You will:
- Work on the site’s front-end in in JavaScript (with modern front-end frameworks), HTML, and CSS
- Build the critical path flow for users through an experience that draws on best practices from modern social platforms
- Interface across disciplines, collaborating with engineering and product
- Contribute to documentation, testing, code review, and general code health
You have:
- A strong technical background in modern web development and libraries
- Experience working with agile teams
- Opinions on web frameworks tempered by an excitement to try new things
- An interest in games
- Familiarity with various social media sites and how they flow
Other strong signals include:
- An affinity for complicated systems
- The ability to assess technologies and predict future usefulness
- Demonstrated interest in acquiring new skills
