About Us
We are a close-knit and creative indie game studio working on a new game after the launch of our debut title: The House of Hikmah. Our next project is a 3D atmospheric exploration game led by mood and discovery. If you’re a UE5 tech artist with a background in VFX, read on!

The Role
As one of the core members of the art team, you will work closely with the Art Director and Lead 3D Artist on the technical aspects of our second game, as well as creating and implementing real-time VFX.  This is not a pure tools role or pipeline consultant role. You will personally build, implement, optimize, and ship player-facing art systems in Unreal.

Responsibilities
• Establish and maintain the studio’s technical art direction and quality standards.
• Develop and optimize workflows, tools, and pipelines to support the entire art team, from environment design to VFX.
• Set and enforce per-asset/per-scene budgets (triangles, texel density, material count, overdraw, memory).
• Develop custom shaders to achieve complex visual effects and debug shader issues across platforms.
• Work closely with the Art, Code, Production, and Creative Direction teams to align technical possibilities with artistic vision.
• Ensure assets and scenes are optimized for target platforms without compromising quality.
• Use Notion to track and manage tasks and create clear documentation.
• Offer hands‑on support for artists, helping troubleshoot and resolve integration or performance issues.
• Attend team-wide and art-specific meetings.

Requirements
• 7+ years of professional technical art experience, with at least two shipped titles (preferably indie and/or owning major visual systems).
• Demonstrated Unreal Engine 5 ability.
• Expertise in 3D art production, asset integration, optimization, and rendering pipelines.
• Experience with procedural content generation, VFX, and shader creation.
• Knowledge of real-time rendering principles, materials, and lighting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to document and explain work to both technical and non-technical team members.
• Familiarity with Perforce and remote workflows.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• No AI. You can produce work without the use of Generative AI.

Bonus
• Proficiency in Houdini for procedural generation and automation.
• Experience in 3D modeling, texturing, or general art production would be helpful, especially if you have some background with Technical animation (Rigging, Skinning, and Animation creation).
• Experience with UI and 2D art implementation is a plus.
• Solid grasp of PBR, color spaces, tone mapping, and how lighting models behave across platforms.
• Strong scripting / technical background (Python, C++, or editor-tool development beyond Blueprints).
• Experience with volumetric fog, water, and weather/atmosphere systems.
• Knowledge of features in the latest Unreal Engine versions (5.7 and 5.8).

Details
• Full-time, remote position.
• Work with a team distributed between UTC-7 and UTC+3.
