We’re Ganymede Games, an independent game studio, and we’re looking for a full-time 2D environment artist to join our team. We're all passionate gamers with a unique mix of industry veterans (ex-Riot Games) and rookies. We're fun, serious about success, and driven to create awesome experiences for players. As a 2D environment artist, you’ll bring the Xenotheria (sci-fi RPG for PC/Consoles) world to life. You’ll be part artist and part world builder. You’ll create immersive 2D isometric environments ranging from barren desert landscapes, urban buildings, derelict spaceships, and a wide variety of flora and game props. You’ll paint backgrounds to set the mood for combat encounters and puzzles. You'll work at speed to implement what you create in Unity.
You’ll be joining a project with a strong, clear vision. We're releasing into Early Access in December of 2021. This position is full-time and you can work remotely from anywhere in the world.
What’s the mission?
Create shippable environment assets; from concepting, to painting and integrating into our pipeline, to final polish for a stylized sci-fi setting
Own the creation of levels / world building from blockout through final set dressing
Establish and maintain the overall environment style
Integrate the art assets into game with P4 and Unity
Contribute to the creative process through original ideas and inspiration
Working together with the rest of the team to make Xenotheria the best RPG possible!
Must-haves:
Excellent environment art skills, with a strong sense of color and composition
Love for environmental worldbuilding, able to execute on isometric tilesets (level layout exteriors and interiors)
Highly entrepreneurial mindset ready to work fast
Art portfolio that demonstrates both your creativity and craft as an artist
Proven experience working with Photoshop
You love RPGs
Strong sense of humor
Nice to haves:
Shipped one video game from concept to completion
A love of the sci-fi genre
