What you'll be doing at FRAME BREAK

If what's written below sounds fun and exciting, you're a perfect candidate for this job!

As part of the FRAME BREAK team, you will partake in plenty of meetings, playtests, brainstorming, and collaboration. Here are the responsibilities unique to your position:

You will be in charge of creating the assets to populate the world of Farmech. This includes modelling, rigging, and texturing environmental objects, plants, structures, and creatures. In addition, you’ll create animations where necessary (mainly structures and creatures) and implement your assets in the game engine.

Since you’ll be the first full-time artist on the team, you will have the opportunity to freely choose the tools and methods you prefer to use, as long as the end result can be smoothly implemented in UE4.

As creator of the bulk of the graphical content, you’ll have a major influence on the game’s graphical direction. You will establish a standard that strikes a balance between graphical fidelity, gameplay needs, narrative themes, hardware constraints, and speed at which assets can be made.

Requirements
If you lack the experience but think you compensate in sheer talent, we’ll still take a look at your application!
  • Experience in game development or equivalent education.
  • Experience in 3D modelling & texturing.
    • Preferably work experience but hobby projects also count!
  • Able to work remotely and be reachable between 9 AM to 4 PM CET.
  • Fluent communication in English.

Useful skills
You should know this or be willing and able to learn quickly.
  • Experience in 3D animation.
  • Experience using Unreal Engine 4.

Bonus skills
Not required but will help your chances.
  • Able to produce 2D Concept art.
  • Able to create shader materials in Unreal Engine 4.

You as a person
The more these apply to you, the better!
  • Team player with the ability to give and receive feedback graciously.
  • Interested in all aspects of game development. Instead of simply staying in your lane, you participate in discussions and give your input in areas beyond the game’s graphics.
  • Have an inquisitive, explorative mind, willing to experiment and discover new genres.
  • Want to join us at FRAME BREAK in creating games that break the mold.

About FRAME BREAK

About FRAME BREAK

FRAME BREAK is a small studio based in Skövde, Sweden and a part of The Game Incubator, founded in 2018 by a group of graduates from the game development program at Skövde University.

FRAME BREAK is about creating games that break the mold. What we mean by that is that we are always trying to create games that differ from the standard, whether by combining two unrelated genres or experimenting to discover new genres entirely. Through these new experiences, we at FRAME BREAK aim to bring players together. Bridging the gap between players young and old, inexperienced or veterans.

As such, diversity is one of our goals when expanding the studio. Innovation is fueled by unique perspectives, and with more voices of differing backgrounds on our team, we can reach out further to those underrepresented in mainstream games.
