Our mission at Eastshade Studios is to make games that feel like real places, and to explore the ocean of game design outside of combat. We are looking for a game programmer to help us build peaceful, lively worlds filled with memorable moments, interesting characters, and small stories. Following the successful release of Eastshade, the open-world adventure game where you play as a traveling artist, we are now in full production on Songs of Glimmerwick, a story-driven witch academy RPG where magic is cast through music.

Responsibilities
  • Implement quests/content from design outlines, using existing tools and APIs: This will involve creating NPCs, making schedules, blocking in conversations, setting up world state changes, scripting logic and game events, while keeping in mind things like open world contingencies, quest order, and serialization.
  • Implement new game features end to end.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and fix bugs (your own and others’).
  • Play testing your work
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of Unity and C#
  • A passion for building and polishing content (not just solving interesting programming problems or making shiny new systems!)
  • Some game design sensibilities to understand and fill in gaps in the design material, and the ability to bridge those final nuts and bolts of a design idea through implementation
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • We are fully remote so must enjoy working independently
Job Features
  • non-US applicants welcome (as long as you are proficient in English)
  • Fully remote (no need to move)
  • Competitive pay (less so for US, particularly US coastal cities)
  • Medical Insurance
  • Flexible work schedule (no specific hours or days)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Be part of a tiny team, and have a huge impact on the project!
Our studio is just two people right now. The plan is for you to be an important cornerstone of our team for games to come! Please send your application to contact@eastshade.com.

About Eastshade Studios

Following the success of the first-person traveling painter-adventure Eastshade, we have set out to make something a little different from our debut title. Our core team consists of married couple Jaclyn Ciezadlo (game director, lead designer, lead artist) and Danny Weinbaum (programmer). We remain committed to making games that feel like true places, and exploring the ocean of game design outside of combat.
